Last Quarter Highlights

First-Ever Impact Day Celebrates Milestones and Community
Adventure4Change marked a major success on November 13, 2025, with our First-Ever Impact Day! The celebration featured two exciting milestones. The day began with the official launch of Basadi, a social enterprise supporting community mothers through skills development and economic opportunities and ended with a lively Night Market Fundraiser! These events successfully brought together families, partners, and neighbours, showcasing local talent, strengthening community ties, and raising vital support for our programs that empower youth and families. We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, and bought Basadi items. Your support and presence made this first Impact Day a memorable success, and we look forward to many more.

Your commitment continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
Building Confidence Through Sports

Girls’ Hockey Program
Twenty four girls ages 4–9 from newcomer, Black and racialized families enrolled in a new hockey program, most stepping onto the ice for the first time. Thanks to Waterloo Ravens, each child received all necessary equipment and gear. Weekly sessions at Albert McCormick Community Centre help the girls learn to skate, build confidence, and develop a love for a sport many never thought they would try.

Nutrition-Break Soccer at Cedarbrae
Each week, during nutrition break at Cedarbrae Public School, A4C staff and student placements run a lively soccer program for about 15 junior students. The program helps children build soccer skills while learning sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect. It has quickly become a highlight of the week for students who show up eager to play, grow, and have fun.
Empowerment Through Opportunity & Leadership

Earthscape & A4C Job Readiness Program for Young Adults
Earthscape & A4C Job Readiness Program for Young Adults: This fall, Adventure4Change successfully hosted a job readiness program in partnership with Earthscape. This initiative was aimed at showcasing potential future job opportunities for young adults and providing a path for career preparation. The event was highlighted by success stories shared by young adults who had previously and currently engaged with Earthscape through Adventure4Change.
They emphasized how the opportunity not only increased their employability but also enriched their life experience. We are immensely grateful to Mark Schwarz and the Earthscape team for their consistent partnership. Their commitment helps the community’s youth gain the practical experience and exposure necessary for a life of self worth and contribution.

Men’s Events:
This quarter, Adventure4Change hosted two Men’s Events designed to strengthen connections and support the overall well-being of the men in the community. These gatherings bring together fathers, older youth, and other men for evenings of dialogue, mentorship, and shared experiences.
To enable learning and understanding, one event included a visit to the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), where participants learned about community safety and the roles they can play as members of their communities. By creating a supportive, safe space for men to discuss challenges, responsibilities, and personal growth, these events are a vital part of A4C’s commitment to building healthier families and stronger communities.

Kiwanis Leadership Program:
This quarter, three A4C youth attended the Kiwanis Leadership Program, a transformative initiative that empowers youth to lead and serve their communities. The program cultivates leadership skills, builds confidence, nurtures meaningful friendships, and engages participants in acts of community service.
Through Kiwanis, these youth are discovering their voice, developing their strengths, and learning what it means to create positive change. Their participation not only enriches their personal growth but also strengthens the culture of leadership and service within their community. We extend our sincere gratitude to Kiwanis for their continued partnership and investment in the community.
Celebrating People
Wishing Meron Solomon Well

For almost three years, A4C’s Systems Navigator, Meron Solomon, was a pillar of support, connection, and hope for families in the community. As she has departed to pursue studies in Law, we reflect with deep gratitude on the profound impact of her work. System navigation is more than providing referrals; it is walking alongside families who are facing complex systems in healthcare, education, housing, and social services. During her time with us, Meron supported families through urgent needs such as housing and food insecurity, connected youth and parents to programs that foster confidence and resilience, led A4C’s weekly Youth Tutoring Program to ensure students received the academic support and encouragement they needed, and offered steady emotional guidance to both families and students. Her dedication strengthened trust, built pathways to resources, and helped families feel seen, supported, and empowered. Meron has left behind a powerful legacy of relationships and transformation, and we are deeply thankful for her time with us.
Introducing New Team Members:
We are excited to welcome two incredible team members to Adventure4Change! Who both bring great expertise and a strong commitment to community development.
Youth Manager

Christopher Aluta: With more than 17 years of dedication to youth empowerment, Christopher brings a wealth of experience in helping young people discover, develop, and confidently step into their potential. His background in Economics, Leadership, Organizational Change Management, Coaching, and Mentoring equips him to support youth through both evidence-based strategies and meaningful human connection. Christopher uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis to ensure programs remain targeted, effective, and responsive to the real needs of young people. His vision is to help generate continuous success stories that reflect the strength of collaboration between A4C, families, and community partners.
Social Worker & System Navigator

Christina Appah, M.S.W., R.S.W: Christina joins A4C with a strong foundation in social work and clinical practice. She is committed to supporting individuals and families through an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approach. Her work centers on creating safe, inclusive spaces where people feel empowered to share their stories, access meaningful support, and build resilience. Christina’s presence strengthens A4C system navigation efforts and enhances its ability to walk alongside families as they navigate complex challenges and work toward long-term stability and well-being.
Looking Ahead:
Sustaining the Momentum
