Adventure4Change entered the second quarter with renewed energy, stronger alignment, and a shared commitment to deepening our impact in our neighbourhoods and strengthening our team.
To launch the quarter, A4C staff engaged in meaningful conversations and team-building activities, we strengthened communication, trust, and collaboration, laying the foundation for another impactful season of service.
We continue to be reminded that lasting change happens when communities come together, young people are empowered, and partnerships are cultivated with intention. These collective efforts continue to move us closer to the future we are building together.
Growing Leaders at Tecasy Ranch

This spring, 15 youth participated in Adventure4Change’s annual Boys and Girls Leadership Retreats at Tecasy Ranch.
The retreats provided young people with opportunities to develop leadership skills, build confidence, set personal goals, and strengthen meaningful relationships with peers and mentors. Through outdoor recreation, team-building activities, and guided reflection, participants were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, discover their potential, and grow as emerging leaders.

One of the most inspiring examples of this impact was Salma, a former Adventure4Change participant who returned this year as a youth leader. Her journey from participant to leader reflects the long-term impact of investing in young people and intentionally creating pathways for leadership.
We are grateful to the staff and volunteers at Tecasy Ranch for partnering with us to create an environment where youth can experience new opportunities, build lasting connections, and develop the confidence to lead in their communities.
Celebrating Our Lifelong Change Makers

During National Volunteer Week, we gathered to celebrate the individuals whose generosity, dedication, and commitment make our work possible.
Our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was an opportunity to recognize the countless hours, acts of kindness, and meaningful relationships our volunteers contribute throughout the year all while enjoying great company, delicious food, and celebrating in true Adventure4Change fashion.
Behind every program, every event, and every success story is a volunteer who has chosen to invest their time, talents, and heart into our community and the lives of children, youth, and families.
Throughout the evening, we celebrated outstanding contributions, shared stories of impact, and reflected on the vital role volunteers play in creating opportunities, fostering belonging, and strengthening our communities.
To our Lifelong Change Makers, thank you for extending our reach, deepening our impact, and inspiring hope every day. We are deeply grateful for all that you do.
Rooted and Rising: A Celebration of Community and Belonging

This year’s Cultural Event, Rooted and Rising: Grounded in Purpose, Growing Together, brought together more than 325 community members, making it our largest cultural celebration to date.
The evening showcased the richness of our community through youth cultural performances, a fashion show by Basadi Sewing, inspiring stories from fathers about Adventure4Change’s impact on their families, and the recognition of community changemakers, volunteers, and partners.
More importantly, the event created a space where people from diverse backgrounds came together to celebrate their identities, build meaningful connections, and strengthen their sense of belonging in Waterloo Region.
Our keynote speaker, Dr. Trevor Charles, challenged attendees to intentionally create spaces where voices that are often underrepresented are heard, valued, and included. His message resonated deeply with Adventure4Change’s commitment to fostering belonging, inclusion, and community leadership.
The evening was a powerful reminder that when people feel seen, valued, and connected, communities become stronger.
To our sponsors, volunteers, performers, partners, supporters, and guests, thank you for helping create an evening that celebrated not only the richness of our cultures but also the transformative power of community.

Celebrating Educational Milestones
Adventure4Change celebrated one of its largest graduating classes to date, recognizing 18 youth who successfully completed high school.
Many of these graduates have been part of the Adventure4Change community for years, participating in tutoring, sports, leadership initiatives, and mentorship programs. Their achievements reflect years of hard work, resilience, and determination, supported by caring mentors, families, and a community that believes in their potential.
Among this year’s graduating class, seven students have been accepted into post-secondary institutions, with two receiving scholarships in recognition of their academic achievements. One of these scholarships is a basketball scholarship.
As we celebrated this important milestone, we were reminded that investing in young people today helps shape the leaders, professionals, and changemakers of tomorrow. We are proud of each graduate and look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make in their communities.
Partnerships in Action
Amplifying Youth Voices Through Collaboration
Adventure4Change was honoured to partner with the Child and Youth Planning Table (CYPT) to host a Youth Impact Survey engagement session, creating an opportunity for young people to share their experiences and perspectives on life in Waterloo Region.
The Youth Impact Survey gives youth aged 9–18 a platform to share their perspectives on their well-being, challenges, and aspirations across multiple areas of their lives. The insights gathered help inform community organizations, service providers, and decision-makers as they work to improve outcomes for children and youth across the region.
At Adventure4Change, this partnership reflects the power of collaboration in ensuring that marginalized youth, particularly those from communities that are often underserved and underrepresented, have opportunities to share their voices and help shape the decisions that affect their lives.
Building Leaders Across Communities: CANU Gathering
Adventure4Change was proud to host youth from Waterloo, Windsor, and Winnipeg for the final gathering of a nine-month leadership and conflict prevention initiative.
Working alongside community partners, participants strengthened their leadership skills, built meaningful relationships across regions, and reflected on their personal growth through community tours, story-sharing sessions, and facilitated discussions.
One of the most significant outcomes of the initiative was the co-creation of a culturally responsive, youth-led conflict prevention toolkit. Designed by youth and informed by their lived experiences, the toolkit serves as a practical resource to foster understanding, strengthen belonging, and promote positive community engagement.
The gathering demonstrated the power of bringing young people together across communities to learn from one another, co-create solutions, and lead meaningful change.

Cedarbrae Festival: Creating Spaces for Connection
Through our partnership with Cedarbrae Public School, Creekside Church, and the Lakeshore South Community Association, Adventure4Change hosted the annual Cedarbrae Festival, welcoming families and community members to celebrate the end of the school year and the start of summer.
While the festival featured games, food, music, and family-friendly activities, its greatest impact was the sense of connection it fostered throughout the community.
Families built new relationships, children participated with confidence and joy, and neighbours gathered in a welcoming environment that nurtured belonging and community pride.

The Cedarbrae Festival is a reminder that strong communities are built through shared experiences and meaningful relationships. By bringing together schools, faith communities, volunteers, residents, and local organizations, this partnership created opportunities for connection that will continue well beyond the event itself.
Together, we are building communities where everyone feels welcomed, supported, connected, and empowered to thrive.

With Gratitude
As summer unfolds, Adventure4Change is once again filled with the energy of camps, learning opportunities, leadership development, and meaningful community engagement.
We are also excited to welcome our summer staff and youth leaders, whose energy, creativity, and dedication are helping create safe, engaging, and enriching experiences for children and youth throughout the season.
Thank you to our volunteers, partners, funders, and community members for walking alongside us. Your continued support makes this work possible, and we look forward to all that we will accomplish together this summer.
