A4C Staff Retreat: A Day of Reflection, Connection, and Creativity

Published: April 16, 2025

Last Friday, our Adventure4Change team gathered for a full-day staff retreat at the SDG Idea Factory from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It was a much-needed opportunity to pause, connect, and strengthen the bonds that make our work so meaningful.

We began the day with light snacks and a warm welcome from our Executive Director, Oluseun Olayinka, followed by a heartfelt session led by Jeremy Horne, our Founding Director. He reminded us why we do the work we do, emphasizing the importance of building genuine connections, being present, and journeying alongside those around us. He shared a powerful quote that deeply resonated with our team:

“When we ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand… the friend who can stay with us in an hour of grief and not try to fix, but simply be present. That is the friend who cares.”

Jeremy encouraged us to be that kind of friend—to one another and to our communities. This is our heart at A4C.

The morning wrapped up with a Q&A session before we enjoyed a delicious lunch together. The afternoon featured a fun and interactive team-building exercise, followed by a calming and expressive art workshop led by Social Art.

The retreat was a well-rounded experience that reminded us of the power of presence, listening, laughter, and authentic connection. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and more connected as a team.

We are grateful for the opportunity as staff to do this, and to be refreshed for the quarter ahead
